In this intriguing book by Gabrielle Zevin, Liz is dead. At least, she hasn't quite realized she's dead . . . Anyways, she wakes up in white pj's on a cruise ship with a bunch of other people. Mainly old people, but some are teenagers like her. She spends about a month on the ship with her new friend (who got shot) and finally realizes she's dead. When the ship stops to make port, it lands in a place called elsewhere, where everyone ages backwards from the day they die. She meets her grandmother (who is now in her late thirties) and goes to explore the land of 'elsewhere'. She soon finds out; you only age backwards (if you were 16 when you died, in a year you would be 15), life is more of a continuous infintious stream, you can be reborn (but not before your time), pets that die go here as well, and that a life lived backwards is not something that she's ready to embrace. Will she ever except that she can't go back to her old life, or will she reject her new one here forever?
In this amazing novel, I was sucked in to the story automatically. I know that everyone will love this great book.
